Manso Nyankomase Erupts in Protest After Military Clash Leaves Five Injured
Tensions flared in Manso Nyankomase, a community in the Amansei South District of the Ashanti Region, as residents took to the streets on Tuesday to protest a violent confrontation with military personnel that left five people injured.
The demonstrators, who burned tyres and blocked roads, demanded justice and government intervention, bringing commercial activities in the town to a standstill for several hours.
The disturbance followed an incident on Monday, October 13, 2025, when residents reportedly clashed with soldiers during a reclamation exercise on a disputed mining concession in the area.
Eyewitnesses said military personnel entered the community to enforce a directive linked to the exercise, but residents resisted, claiming they had not been notified about the operation.
Some locals accused the soldiers of using excessive force, describing the confrontation as an act of “unprovoked intimidation.”
Five individuals sustained injuries of varying severity and were taken for medical attention.
As of now, authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident, but tensions remain high in the community as residents call for accountability and restraint in future security operations.
