EC Allegedly Moves to Auction Unserviceable Vehicles Amid Staff Resistance and Union Protest
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has allegedly instructed all its Regional Directors to review and update lists of obsolete items and unserviceable vehicles within their offices by Thursday, 16th October 2025.
A purported internal memorandum dated 14th October 2025, and said to have been signed by the Acting Director of Administration, Lawrence Sarpong, reportedly calls for immediate action from regional offices to submit updated inventories for the urgent attention of the Commission’s Survey Board.
According to the memo, the EC Chairperson has allegedly reconstituted the Survey Board to oversee the disposal of all obsolete and unserviceable items across the Commission, including those in regional and district offices.
“In view of the time lapse since the last list was submitted in February, you are kindly requested to review and update the list of the items for the urgent attention of the Survey Board,” the document reportedly stated.
Regional Directors are also said to have been urged to include any new additions identified during their review to ensure the updated list accurately reflects the current state of assets.
The alleged directive emphasizes the need for urgency, as the Commission seeks to streamline the management and disposal of outdated assets within its operations.
