NPP Leadership Monitoring Aspirants, Managing Tensions Behind the Scenes – Justin Kodua

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has assured party members and the public that the leadership is actively engaging with presidential aspirants to manage tensions and ensure discipline ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 18, Kodua addressed concerns that the party was not doing enough to rein in aspirants who have been engaging in public spats and internal criticisms.

He clarified that while the party may not always issue public reprimands, significant efforts are ongoing behind closed doors to address issues and prevent escalation.
“There are so many behind-the-scenes discussions, meetings, and interventions that people don’t see,” Kodua explained. “You may not know the number of times we’ve engaged certain individuals, prevented inflammatory statements, or calmed tensions.”

He emphasized that the absence of public condemnations should not be mistaken for inaction. “The fact that I have not come out publicly to rebuke Mr. A or B doesn’t mean the party has been silent or indifferent,” he said.

With a competitive primary race underway and multiple high-profile contenders vying for the NPP’s flagbearer slot, the party leadership is under increasing pressure to maintain unity and safeguard its image as it gears up for the 2028 general elections.
